#04 – Can I call you Grandma now?
PAPACITO #04
My wife and I decided that we would tell our parents about the pregnancy on Mother's Day. What better Mother's Day gift than the news of a future grandchild?
Is it okay now to call my own mother "Grandma"?
In the past, at least, it hasn't exactly been met with cheers of joy.
We wanted to come up with something other than just announcing over coffee,
"Just so you know — we're pregnant." Even though I blurted out our wedding plans right in the entryway, we decided to handle this a little differently.
We ended up buying Mauri Kunnas's *Grandparents' Books*, which we, of course, wrapped in gift paper to make them look like ordinary Mother's Day gifts.

I'm sure everyone can guess how it turned out. Not even the first edition of Harry Potter would have brought about such a broad smile and so many tears.
And most importantly — after that, being called "Grandma" didn't hurt my feelings anymore.
