#02 – Is anyone home?

We ended up booking an appointment for an early pregnancy ultrasound. Of course, there were better and more reasons for it, but I pushed for this one with the thought that now, finally, the whole pregnancy would become real for me, too.

Is Vili Junior, Vili's son, really in there?

For me, this pregnancy hadn't really felt real until now. My breasts weren't tender, and I didn't have any morning sickness—am I really pregnant?

Now it's time to turn on the camera and knock on the door to see if anyone's living in there or not.

Mentally, I was prepared for my wife to be lying on some kind of table with her stomach exposed, and for the gel familiar from movies to be spread over the probe and her stomach, after which they'd start looking for the fetus.

However, since it had been a while since my own gynecologist's appointment, preparing for the exam was relatively challenging, and I didn't know what to expect. My wife was lying half-naked, spread-eagled like a lab animal, and the gynecologist calmly raised the examination table higher toward "working height," as he put it.

Pale with shock, I ended up just staring at the screen, waiting to see what kind of video would start playing.

There you were, running wild, and we could see your heart beating.

Oh my. That's when it all came together, even though you weren't much of a bundle yet. Just thinking back on that moment sends chills down my spine—and I'm not talking about the lab animal experiment anymore.

The final verdict was that everything is fine: The Master is in the right place, and things are reportedly going as planned. We'll meet again in three weeks for what's called a "real" or "normal" ultrasound.

Well, now you're starting to look a bit more like a human. Folic acid has clearly done its job. You've changed a lot compared to previous weeks. Will this change continue to be just as radical in the coming weeks? You could even believe that the animated image of the fetus in the Pregnancy+ app does indeed resemble the blob seen on the ultrasound.

Daddy's little peanut!
